City of Cardiff
Rotaract is sponsored by Cardiff Bay Rotary and is one of the leading Rotaract
Clubs in Great Britain. All 18-30 year olds are invited to get involved.
Originating in Cardiff University amongst the student
population is has since developed into the community as its founder members
have graduated but stayed on to work in the city. It also welcomes Rotaractors
and other students from overseas who are studying in Cardiff as part of their
courses.
In recent years the club has opened out to embrace asylum
seekers arriving in Cardiff, many of whom are within this age group and can
find friendship at a time when they are feeling most lonely and vulnerable –
actually the reason why Rotary was started by its founder over 100 years ago.
They meet most Wednesdays at 6.30 p.m. at the Refectory Café
in Windsor Place and for £2 you will get a hot beverage and usually some cake.
Their headline projects include HIV Aids Awareness seminars, Know Your Blood Pressure testing, Peace and Conflict Resolution training, Face painting to raise funds, Environmental projects and much more.
